What does "doesn't work anymore" mean?

It is like mute mode.
Movie will be displayed fine - just without sound.
Speaker config in xbmc is at 5.1...

Thank you

Is this passthrough? (e.x. AC3 capable receiver is activated in system->system->audio)

All is activatetd in system preffs:
AC3
DTS
LPCM

I tried the stereo to all speaker option, this doesn't solve the issue.

@Bub4
Just a side note which I noticed when looking at your log:
The skin you are using does not support XBMC 12 or higher , you might want to consider switching to a skin that does.

Bub4 - what if you switch off lpcm?

Kibje:
Thank you for let me know!

Memphiz:
It doesn't matter if lpmc is set or not - sound won't play.

I tryied some different files and results are as follows (container-independent):

2.0 works if it is AC3 soundtrack - Receiver switch automatically to stereo mode. Playback is fine.

2.0 don't work if it is mp3 - Receiver doesn't switch automatically and switch manually doesn't help.

EDIT:
AAC at 5.1 is also not working anymore. So it seems to be soundtrack related...

set speaker config in xbmc to 2.1 and try.

Also what is your speakersetup in osx audio-midi-setup tool?

I have the same unit as the OP and am running optical at the moment. I switched to optical from HDMI to mitigate the 46 minute stutter/freeze and left speaker audio only with video with mp3 audio. AAC and mp3 audio working perfectly with optical. My speaker config is 5.1. I too have an onkyo receiver HT-RT270.
Did you make sure (OP) that your default audio out for HDMI in system preferences>sound>audio output on your mac mini is set to your onkyo for HDMI?
BTW, I am using frodo 12.2 0414 build.

Memphiz,

2.1 doesn't help, but 2.0 works.
mp3 and aac will be played!

Although it is set to 2.0 -> 5.1 Sound will be played correctly.

So this seems to work for me.

audio-midi-setup is 2Ch - 24-Bit - do I still have to change something, or is it fine as it is?

Thank you for your support!!

mhh sounds logical. Since all your 5.1 stuff is passed through it doesn't matter what you set as speaker config.

Hi,

first of all - Thank you Memphiz!

xbmc is working fine now.

I played a bit with the speaker config in Audio-Midi-Setup, because I have some other curios issues which seems not to be related to xbmc.

Therefore no need for you, Memphiz, to step in – I just want to report, in case someone else has the same issue.

Sometimes the TV "flickers" when I'm on MAC desktop (Display blanks once and restart). And this happens in xbmc as well.

It seems the AVR loses signal from the mini.

When I'm on desktop - everything is fine, but If this happens in xbmc the display comes up again and the movie is stuttering without sound.

-> I have to stop playback and replay to have it back smoothly.

I'm not sure, but this could relate to audio-midi-setup.

So i tried different Audio-Midi-Setups:

What also work is, if I set Audio-Midi-Setup to 6CH / 24-bit and xbmc to 5.1 (Passthrough activated)

I tried different soundtracks (5.1 / 2.0 @ AC3 / MP3) and different container - all was working fine.

-> AAC soundtracks are kind of "quite-down" but I have only one at AAC and I simply re-ripped that particular DVD to AC3.

AAC Lossless seems not to be a good soundtrack for my setup...

If Audio-Midi-Setup is 6CH and xbmc 2.0 i get the left speaker only issue at stereo.

Until now flickering doesn’t happen anymore.

My setup is:
Mac Mini 2010 (nvidia 320M)

latest version of Lion (OS 10.7.x)

AV Receiver Onkyo HT-R380 (connected via HDMI)

If anyone has similar issues and want me to check a specific setup, please let me know
