I just upgraded from Leia to Nexus (I skipped Matrix due to the recent lengthy unavailability of Raspbarry Pi units) and I can't find the VNC add-on anywhere. Am I overlooking something? Is remote Kodi "desktop" access (for lack of a better term) no longer supported?

Kodi never included a VNC add-on nor was such an add-on provided via official Kodi add-on repository. Could it be that you are using LibreELEC or one of its derivatives? As far as I know *ELEC provides such an add-on. You should ask in their support channels.
