Solved Problems getting ARC-1100 to work.
#1
As part of my setup I have an ARC-1100 (in this case manufactured by Adesso) so after a quick search I found this How-to:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...for_Ubuntu

This was awesome because I followed all the steps and everything seemed to be working, until I loaded into the actual XBMC interface - the remote doesn't work at all.

I noticed at the bottom of the how-to there is a glitch that mentions the following:
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/10088

After reading the ticket and testing my remote's inputs using "irw" it seems that I am suffering from the same issue as the above ticket.

My current problem is trying to figure out how to install the patch that is hosted on the ticket.

I realize that both the how-to and the ticket are 3 years old, but it seems to be the best solution for my problem.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

this remote should work out of the box without lirc if you run a halfway recent linux. It just registers itself as a keyboard.

It works to a certain extent, but I would like to have 100% functionality from this remote - the less involvement with a keyboard and mouse the better.

But as an update, I found this: http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8827 while doing some more research, but I can't get it to install because when I try to build and install it, it throws an error.

Unfortunately the computer is at my office and I can't post the whole error.

Okay so I'm bumping this up with the error when I try to install the HAMA_MCE client in the aforementioned ticket.

Code:
hama_mce.cpp:263:2 error narrowing conversion of '128' from 'int' to 'char' inside {} is ill-formed in C++11 [-Werror=narrowing]

I solved the issue.

I followed the instructions on this site and it works perfectly now.
