Interested in trying out the PVR functionality but have never owned a TV card and will be needing to buy a new one. Running xbmcbuntu and considering mythtv for the backend. Any suggestions on card? and does it even matter?

Hi,
Really depends on where your signal comes from. If it's only for free-to-air programs from a standard TV-antenna, or from a non-encrypted cable-provider, I'd say the HDHomerun from SiliconDust. It's not really a TV-card, though - it's a network connected dual TV-tuner, which means you don't need to connect it directly to your PC, but rather to your network. Then you can stream the channels off of it. For some MythTV-related info, take a look here: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Silicondust_HDHomeRun |
