support for keyboard with qwertz and äüö
#1
Apparently keyboards with qwertz and äüö are not supported in Openelec and raspbmc.

I tried to switch the layout on first login with ssh in rasbmpc as instructed here http://www.raspbmc.com/wiki/user/frequen...questions/ with no success.

Same problem for Openelec here http://www.openelec.tv/forum/105-keyboar...t?start=42

In Linux desktops like Fedora or Ubuntu it is no problem to switch layout and language as often as wanted during installation and later.

When will this problem be solved in xbmc and underlying Linuxes ?

Raspian Wheezy handles keyboard with qwertz and äüö correctly.

I am using a Hungarian keyboard which is also QWERTZ, and the Y and Z keys are correct, but not the accented ones, like áóöő.
I, too, would be interested in a solution for this problem.

I can't speak for Raspbmc, but with OpenELEC on Raspberry Pi there is only support for a limited set of physical (rather than on screen virtual) keyboard layouts and it's not likely to improve any time soon.

You could try the loadkmap approach, if all else fails.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.
