Wow that is simply incredible, that honestly looks like what you see in a retail bluray, this is a feature that would just improve xbmc usability and presentation immensely. I would really just love to see something like this in xbmc itself, it would be useful for everyone.
I seen a kaleidescape system recently which is basically movies for the rich and thats what they have, but yours looks just as nice! And its not a 20 000 dollar system!
Can you bring this scene selection up during the movie as well.

May I ask how this works, and if you would rather not say that is understandable, I certainly would not know how to develop such a thing, but is there some database with screenshots of chapters it can scrape of movies?
From a vague google it seems like its almost part of the metadata function of mb3 where it also extracts chapter mark images from our movies...somehow.
Something like this in xbmc would be incredible as part of the metadata during movie scan and artwork fetching it could also scan for chapter mark images, I assume it would only do this if the user wishes to enable it, it sounds like thats kind of how mb3 has it.
I know were discussing two different products, but it is a great feature.

This one needs a bump again (and some support) :-)

I'd love to convert some concert DVDs to MKV, but I'd really miss the direct chapter selection. Thumbnails would be useful, but I really need the chapter names, which MKVs do support. This would be a great feature to add!

Any news about this? Would be a great addition, if you are searching for a specific part of the movies.
A post gotham feature would be great!

I hope I can convince a dev to add it after Gotham. But I think this might even be possible as (core)addon (if necessary functions are available, like reading chapter marks and asking XBMC for thumbnails at a specific timestamp) for better maintenance.

A short term solution might be to just hijack the bookmark feature and have something generate bookmarks based on chapter location. How bookmarks look in the GUI is how I imagine something like this might work in XBMC.
hmm.. I wonder...
