Linux LIRC remap remote button
#1
Hello,

By default my remote works almost perfectly, it's a Logitech Harmony One setup as a Microsoft MCE remote. However I want to remap two of the buttons. Change 'Info' to be Keypress 'I' and change 'Exit' to return to the home screen if possible. All the LIRC tutorials specify a keymap.xml file that needs to altered in userdata folder, but this doesn't exist for me.

I don't want to uninstall LIRC and start one of the tutorials from the beginning as I'll probably break it and I could just work around the info button.

Is the default setup on XBMCbuntu different from what the tutorials mention.

Hi

I usually just edit /usr/share/xbmc/system/keymaps/remote.xml with sudo nano.

There you can change what button you whant on your remote.

I hope this get you there

You should not edit ANY XBMC system files and advising otherwise is unwise, at best copy the file to userdata (wiki) Keymaps and edit and make changes to it there. XBMC will look at userdata (wiki) file instead and if you update XBMC your changes wont be lost not to mention any error wont bork XBMC.
