would like to know if its possible to install XBMCbuntu on to this and if so, which build

I have already tried two differnet installations , and haven't been able to see it boot up properly yet
right now, it just goes to black screen / with black mouse

anyone know which installation i need ot use for this and do i need to select sandy bridge or not ?
Thanks

OK you need the nVidia/Intel XBMCbuntu version.

You are likely suffering the RC6 bug. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=148356

I would suggest you use this OpenELEC Image: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...34.tar.bz2

You can easily test it with a USB stick:
sudo bash create_installstick /dev/sdX where X is abviously your root USB stick, e.g. /dev/sdg

It has disabled RC6 by default and it brings VPP Postprocessing for real Deinterlacing support.

If you build from source have a look here: https://github.com/fritsch/xbmc/commits/frodo-vpp
The code was written by btbn, PR currently pending. I ported it to frodo, cause xbmc master with ffmpeg 1.2 is not good for intel currently (mpeg-2 segfault broken).
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Ok
OpenElec did not work for me very well
running some add-ons failed so went back in hopes to figure out how to get XBMCBuntu on there
took me most of the evening to figure it out, but I actually have XBMCBuntu installed / loading up properly using HDMI video and audio

happy times !!!
