Limit low frequency audio output
#1
Hi

Is there any way to limit XBMC from outputting frequencies under ie. 20hz? (Using WASAPI/Bitstreaming on AMD 6450)

Reason is that some movies have some huge spikes well under 20hz and that makes my sub kill off stuff that hangs on the wall etc Wink
I know superglue is an option, but for now i'd settle for just limiting the output to 20hz Wink

No, XBMC cannot do this.

I'm using the B&W DB1 sub. It's a monster Wink

@a11599: Ok, thanks. Smile

How are you feeding the subwoofer? is it through an AVR? if so can't you adjust things on the AVR?

Yes, it gets signal from the surround processor, but there is no way to limit it downwards... just upper limits Wink

Just found the manual for that sub, can't the User EQ be used to adjust the volume of the lower frequency sounds, so set the 20Hz band to -10dB for example?

@jjd
Thanks for making the extra effort Smile
Yes, that is a possibility. However by doing that you dont get a clean cutoff and will loose frequencies higher in the band also. Not a big deal... would just be a tighter cut-off by doing it the other way Smile I'll live with it the way it is and maybe try to tweak the sub's filter a little bit.

Again, thanks for the extra effort Smile
