ASRock A75M on Win 8 - Frodo : drivers?
#1
Just rebuilt my htpc with Win 8 and I'm getting choppy video with no audio.

Under Device Manager my sound devices are still the MS drivers.

System has all the Win Updates done and I've tried to install both the AMD/ATI Catalyst 13-4 (uninstalled when that didn't work).

I then went back to the ASRock site and downloaded the Allin1_Win7-64_Win7_Vista64_Vista(8.86RC2) (2011) and this didn't solve the problem.

There are Realtek drivers on the ASRock site but from my reading I should stay away.

Anyone in the same situation tell me what drivers they used?

Not really pertinent to setting the box up but this are some setup details:

Frodo - Denon 3312ci AVR - Panasonic Plasma

HDMI for both connections

Media resides on Synology 212j and shares via NFS.

The sound drivers read as High Definition Audio Device and are MS drivers.

There should have been an AMD or ATI HDMI audio driver included with Catalyst. That is what you want to use for audio over HDMI. Realtek would be for S/PDIF or HD/AC'97 audio.

That's what I thought but nether Catalyst package had the driver, or wasn't installed. I did custom installs so I could see what was being installed but neither had audio drivers.

Clearly I'm making some sort of simple mistake but I just can't spot it.

Links to the drivers I've tried to use without success:

ASRock Drivers
AMD Drivers

Got things working by using the 13-1 Package.
