Kubuntu 12.04.1
3.2.0-41-generic #66-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 25 03:27:11 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
XBMC 12.0 Frodo
XBMC stopped working after a system update ( or maybe there was a system crash! )
The initial screen freezes and have to exit with Ctrl+Alt+F1 then shutdown in terminal.
Running XBMC from Terminal gives:
Running DIL (3.22.0) Version
DtsDeviceOpen: Opening HW in mode 0
DtsDeviceOpen: Create File Failed
*** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x00007f16e0006700 ***
Is this a hardware problem or do I need to re-install something?
I have re-installed XBMC but same error.
Any suggestions please.
This is my first post, so I hope I've done it OK
Edit1
Left memtest86 running while I went out. Now made 3 passes with no errors, so don't reckon it's a memory
problem.
As xbmc.bin is mentioned in the error message, I will now un-install all of xbmc including xbmc.bin,
then re-install the lot & try again.
Guess What!
Terminal .... :~$ xbmc
Running DIL (3.22.0) Version
DtsDeviceOpen: Opening HW in mode 0
DtsDeviceOpen: Create File Failed
*** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x00007f6b700055f0 ***
