Win Still no NFO-Editor/Generator for Music?
#1
Question
Hi there,

It's been a while since i was an active user here. I guess 2 or 3 years. Now i'm back for checking what's possible today.. and find i'm still on my own when it comes to music artists that are not listed on any scraper available in xbmc.

Is that true? Still no gui/editor for filling in the required infos in a form and let it generate the nfo-files for me? Or did i just not read carefully enough and there is one?

Please tell me.

Id suggest you use something like mp3tag utility to tag your files and let XBMC scrape that rather than a dedicated .nfo editor.

I guess you get me wrong here.

It's not about the music tags of the files. It's about the artist info. For example "(hed) PE" or "(hed) Planet Earth" is not available on any actual scraper inside xbmc, but i've ripped 2 cds to mp3 and want to add them into my xbmc music database.

Of course i could write my own artist.nfo. But i thought after several years there could be a tool available that does this for me. Seems like there still isn't one.

I do know for a fact that "(hed) PE" is available with the Universal Artist Scraper as well as with the musicbrainz-scraper... (I listen to them myself (I'm also from Stuttgart, by the way - weird, you're not my alter ego, are you?))

Edit:
And as I recall, if you do indeed want an actual nfo generator, TagScanner can do this with the right setup:
http://www.xdlab.ru/en/

There's also this app, but I never tried it and do not know how good it is in its current state (the project is dead now):

Need help? Check out my XBMC Frodo Guide. It contains full featured guides to Sickbeard and CouchPotato as well.

I've tried "(hed) P.E.", "(hed) Planet Earth", "(hed)" and even "hed" with no success on every scraper available for frodo 12.2. Weird. But of course that's not the only artist in question.

If i get it right, this one still only is about tags and has no option to store artist info (Bio, description, members etc.) in an xml-style nfo. Correct me if i'm wrong here.

That one is to generate scene-release nfos Wink

To you and all the other ppl reading this: i'm talking about a way to fill/generate THIS nfo: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=NFO...ic#Artists

(ps: No, you're sure not my alter ego - but cool to see other ppl from stuttgart around here Tongue )

There have been a few efforts over the years, but nothing that really stands out yet.

You might want to check out http://www.mycollections.fr/ as they recently did some metadata scraping for music features.
