Linux XBMC on secondary screen with secondary keyboard
#1
Hi everyone,

I am new to XBMC so bare with me if my question is stupid.

I use ubuntu 12.04 with 2 monitors connection to the same graphic card. My goal is to have XBMC on one monitor(Living room TV) and on the secondary monitor a normal desktop environment. I would like to have separate keyboards for each display so that one person can use XBMC while another is using the normal desktop environment.

I have looked around a bit and the only solution I could find was to get a separate graphic card(Using the same graphic card was cubersome apparently since it requried Xephyr) and start one X-server per graphic card?

Is this the only way or am I missing some other way to achieve this or something similar.

Almost forgot... Sound is only important for the XBMC screen, should be nice to have on both screen but not requried.

Any input or ideas is appreciated! Also if you think that the described approach is the best one it would be great if you could confirm it!

Best Regards

Marcus
