Linux VAAPI: Nuc, Chromebox, HSW, IVB, Baytrail with Ubuntu 14.04
I would not do that.

Get a cheap haswell board and a Celeron 1820T. The HSW GPU generation is much better than what IVB had - including 24p support. VPP is broken in all drivers we have at hand, but in theory MADI is implemented even for SNB and IVB. MACI is HSW only.

Edit: Also make sure to not upscale 1080 content to 1080 by lanczos3 that's just insane. See the settings in first post. Everything HD3000 or better is capable of lanczos3 upscaling of 720p content to 1080.

We lost the 5 star rating in this thread :-) It's time to close it.

thanks a lot for the info!, and thank for pointing out the upscaling percentage, that fixed that problem.

Hi,
It seems in the recent builds of xbmc, JSON-RPC control is broken. If I play something directly from xbmc gui then it plays normally. But if i try to play the same thing via JSON-RPC then I am getting error

ERROR -
DEBUG: libdvdnav: vm: failed to open/read the DVD
11:27:22 T:2880736064 ERROR: Error on dvdnav_open
11:27:22 T:2880736064 ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening []

the command which I am trying via JSON
{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"Player.Open","id":1,"params":{"item":{"file":"http://172.16.0.3/Audiosongs/007LMFAO-SexyandIKnowIt.mp3"}}}

This same command works if I try it in previous month xbmc builds. Please help

In short: Only upgrade at the end of the month, not at the beginning.

Hello Guys!

I noticed today, that VAAPI acceleration has stopped working on my HTPC (Intel Pentium G2030T - IVB). It's an Ubuntu 12.04.4 (desktop) based system with XBMC 14.0 alpha (wsnipex repository). I've just upgraded the HWE from Saucy to Trusty (kernel version 3.13.0-30) and updated XBMC to the latest alpha release.

Do you have any idea, how can I fix it? Vainfo and acceletion settings in XBMC seem to be fine. Is it a kernel / mesa / XBMC related problem?
Nobody knows without seeing your Debug Log

@fritsch: Sorry, it was my first post here. I thought maybe it's a common issue. I had to turn off debugging first, but I managed to upload the log file: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=244855
No idea ... decoder gets closed - no error happens -> use an uptodate distribution is everything I can suggest.

dpkg -l libva1
@fritsch: Thanks anyway!

ii  libva1                                      1.0.15-4                                 Video Acceleration (VA) API for Linux -- runtime
might be the issue, your kernel and mesa are quite recent, but libva is still the old version from precise launch.
