Linux VAAPI: Nuc, Chromebox, HSW, IVB, Baytrail with Ubuntu 14.04
It also works fine on my Baytrail System (J1800) - please check the visual quality and report back in the above bugreport.

patch #3 started working on IVB, fields are no longer inverted in motion adaptive, but playback looks jerky, both in compensation and adaptive, horizontal image movement causes "jumps" for the moving parts of the image, as if the moving block skipped a frame or so; sorry, its hard to describe. Is it possible to make a video screen capture of the output video ? without too much fuss ?

Yeah it is, but not so easily when you have a standalone xbmc installation. I see exactly the same. You could take your mobile phone and film a video of it. Afterwards please post a link to the above mentioned bugtracker. Make sure that one sees which Method you are currently using and so on.

Thanks much in advance: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...ample2.m4v <- that's what I got, I need more fps.

Edit: I made another video that clearly shows the issues: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...enole3.mkv (IVB)
And here how it should look like: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...enole4.mkv (HSW)

For people with hdmi-handshake issues (eg no ouput unless you turn on avr+tv first) here is an attempted work-around:

well, i made a video with my camcorder, moving it side to side, the problem can be seen perfectly, but my cellphone does not catch the effect, meh.
motion compensated looks better than motion adaptive, though.

i will try filming outside during daylight and see if i get better results.

If it looks like the videos that I posted then it's not needed - Gwenole (the intel dev) already had a look at them and is now thinking of a solution. Thanks much though.

I must say, it is good to see Gwenole doing so much work to get this right. is it all private time, like you do. Or allows Intel the dev to decide where they put their time?
I think Gwenole invests a whole lot of his private time into this. But yeah - it's something intel needs to get working. So I would say 50/50. But never the less, he is very friendly and helpful in that regard. Without him nothing would work at the moment. Just see latest 1.4.1 driver release -> no working deinterlacing for any platform is available.

Good for us all: He has already pushed the HSW work into the master branch, so the next stable driver will have at least the HSW mcdi/madi stuff working. Hopefully we get IVB going also for 1.5.0

I just tested with the latest fernetmenta-ppa version and the issue is still there. Is this still on the to-do list or was it forgotten?
Hey everyone,
I have a little question.i have setup kodi with your tutorial.latest kodi running with latest drivers from snipex.Everything runs well except MAADI-VAAPI.Its just like TimoJ said.If its enabled sometimes the picture freezeses for 2 - 3 seconds an then the playback continues in fastforwarder. Now my question is my Intel HD Graphics in my Intel Pentium G3420 to slow for VAAPI-MAADI or VAAPI-MCDI ? because with yadif alias cpu deinterlace i get a cpu load 56% with live tv its running very good now crash or anything else.but i perefer that the GPU is doing the thing.Sorry for my bad english.thanks a lot in advance for your great work !!!
Post the logfiles requested from the first page and add: dmesg | pastebinit.

TimoJ has a problem with fast forwarding (he actively fast forwards). Your's is most likely a famous gpu hang. We will see after you provided the logs.

Yeah, exactly the same gpu hang.

Write a me, too to: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83677 and upload your dmesg and the zipped /sys/class/drm/card0/error (e.g. bzip2 ~/crash.bz2 /sys/class/drm/card0/error)

Try this: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1827074

Does that help in the meantime?

Edit: Btw. your aplay -L was probably done by a user that is not in the audio group, recheck that (not bug related)

Hi Fritsch, Ive used the 30 oct openelec snapshot, and just like all previous snapshots, the image freezes after about 10-15 minutes of playback while sound continious to play correctly. There is no fast forward kind of stuff going on after it. When the image freezes thats it, and a reboot is required. I dont want to emphisize on the possible obvious, but if this is unknown and unexpected I could post some logs. I reverted to stable for now!
Not sure if you even try to read this thread ... at least you definitely ignored the post just before yours.

In doubt, just ask for money back.
