The Linux DeskTop underscans a lot

Hi,

Have installed XBMCbuntu 12.2 on a N40L machine with ASUS 6450 vid card. It all works fine except when I go to one of the other desktops do do linux stuff like install makemkv. The desktops are not all shown. I see a cropped desktop with buttons off the edge of the screen (42' plasma via hdmi). In XBMC all is fine, I can have all the resolutions and do the screen cal no problems.

Got makemkv installed acording to the terminal output but I can't browse around easily to check.

do this while X is _stopped_:
sudo aticonfig --set-pcs-val=MCIL,DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan,0
