Linux E3 2013 Video Stream on XBMC
#1
Hi everyone,

G4TV is dead and Spike TV is only broadcasting the Microsoft Press Conference at E3. Anyone know how I can stream the GameTrailers, IGN, or GameSpot E3 live feed next week in XBMC?

I've recently switched from XBMC for Windows to XBMCBuntu (Linux) and I have no idea if that even has a desktop environment capable of streaming through a browser. I'm hoping there is an easy way I can get this working directly in the XBMC without having to plug in a keyboard & mouse.

I guess I could just watch on my laptop but I'd much rather enjoy the coverage on my 70" Living Room TV.

I am interested too.

Conferences start today so it will be helpful if someone has some clue to how watch them the best way.

Thanks.

Stream urls wont be available until they actually start streaming on the sites.

Once the urls are available how do you get XBMC to connect to them (without dropping out of XBMC and opening a web browser)? Is there a plug-in for live streams?

you will need to create a file with the extension .strm
the contents of the file will be something like this:

rtmpe://cp152939.edgefcs.net/ondemand/mtvnorigin/gsp.gtcomstor/media/videos_root/games/2013/06_jun_2013/jun_06/gt_e32013_coveragepromo_1280x720_3500_h32.mp4

checkout http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Int...io_streams
that is the promo for gametrailers e3 coverage.
I will try and get the link for their stream. No promises tho.

384x216 bitrate 400:

512x288 bitrate 750:

640x360 bitrate 1200:
http://spikelive-f.akamaihd.net/e32013_live1_1200@62376

768x432 bitrate 1700:
http://spikelive-f.akamaihd.net/e32013_live1_1700@62376

960x540 bitrate 2200:
http://spikelive-f.akamaihd.net/e32013_live1_2200@62376

1280x720 bitrate 3500:
http://spikelive-f.akamaihd.net/e32013_live1_3500@62376

if you put any 1 of those link in a .strm file now you should see a roster. Once E3 starts they should become the stream. *fingers crossed*

I used the 2200 bitstream one and the build up and first 30 mins of microsoft was fine but then xbmc kept restarting every 6 mins. Not a full pi reboot, just xbmc restart. Anyone else get this or is it just my setup?

Same here. Black screen with a cross, then a soft reset. Thought it might be Aeon Nox at first, switched to Confluence and the same thing happened.

Acer Revo RL70 (2GB RAM, 64GB SSD) running latest (official) Fusion build.
