XBMC default movie player - How to change it?
#1
Dear All,

I have installed XBMC 12.2 Frodo version on my Android JB oDroid U2 card.
Now I'd like to configuring it in order to change the default movie player. I have downloaded playercorefactory.xml file and put it in the /userdata directory.
The file should be configured in order to launch MX Player but unfortunately it doesn't work.
Starting a movie nothing happens. Without this file everything works well with the default player.

Anyone could help me to understand the problem?

Thanks in advance

It seems that everyone knows how to do it, and in that case this is a very stupid question, or nobody knows how to do it, and in this case too it is a very stupid question ... Smile

Why would you use an external player on that beefy U2? Even with software decode, it should handle 720 content without overclocking. Also, try the libstagefright test builds: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=152005

Ned, why not? Everything is just a joke Smile
I have a video 1080p 40mbps that runs well on MX Player but not on XBMC default player so why don't integrate both? It is a possibility offered by XBMC and I'd like to try it.

Yes, the libstagefright test build of XBMC should have working hardware decoding on the ODROID for 1080. download links are here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=152005

Odroid platform requires this build: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/andr...bi-v7a.apk.

I just smoke tested it successfully on JB 4.1.2 on Odroid-U2.

I'd like only to change the default player ... Smile
playercorefactory.xml file (https://nuskunetworks.box.com/s/wzzbunuqew9rh3ospczj) on my XBMC release seems not work and I don't understand the problem.
The playercorefactory.xml file reports that it is already configured with MX Player ...
I'm going to try the version reported by robroyhall ....

file not found on your link, and no debug log uploaded. How can we see what you did wrong.

Anyway, just use the hardware accelerated build : http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/andr...bi-v7a.apk

The only reason people used MX Player is because there was no hardware decoding in XBMC for Android as there is in MX Player, this is not the case anymore with the availability of the libstagefright test builds, so why insist on using MX Player and losing features ?

Even my Nexus 7 plays high bitrate 1080p smoothly with the libstagefright builds.

Hi!
I´m new on this and I'm not very sure if this solution will work for me as well.
I've this box:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111090942722?s...1497.l2649
And happens the same. The SD movies in XBMC works well but in HD the movies works pretty slow. I'm using the frodo 12.2 for Android.
I read about to change the player cause other players in my box plays the HD movies perfect but not the one that cames with the XBMC.
So, that version you posted there will be ok to fix my error?

Thanks very much in advance,

Hugo

Kibje, all I see is ffmpeg on the build you linked...is it hw accelerated without libstagefright?
I also have an error with "Error creating demuxer" on only some videos that I encoded myself (no tests on web rips). The same files play fine with Archos. That's the biggest reason for using an external player for me.
I've seen the demuxer error on Windows (Dell XPS 8300) and Android (Minix Neo X5 and Odroid-U2) starting roughly around XBMC 12.0

This is a bug in XBMC. Fix (including binaries) and discussion here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=175341

Libstagefright support today is not good enough for many android boxes. Eventually it will get there, but until then, it is essential that XBMC is able to launch MX Player.

libstagefright does not help people that have an allwinner chipset! why do people not simply answer someones question? I for one need MX Player to launch and it is not working either.

Our crystal ball is bust right now.

Open a new thread, detail your problem and include debug logs - without them you will get no answers.
