ok, As far as I can tell (I'm only trying to help here) I tried these boxes so far...

1) Boxee Box hacked with XBMC
2) gBox with Latest XBMC Build
3) Ouya with XBMC

Believe it or not. The best results so far is with the OUYA. I hate the gamer control and the GUI but after hacked or Rooted you can change the GUI with other options.

XBMC was made to run on an OUYA

Albertking - you can get away with side loading the AMAZON store with no rooting needed on OUYA. Gives you all the options on the factory OS platform.

Am sure there'll be others, but personally I'd drop Android in favour of any device with a decent linux build available.

What build are you using on the MX2? And where can I get one for a reasonably cheap price?

I have read the entire thread and only seen a reference to the Boxee Box once.
How does the Boxee Box running Frodo 12.3 stack up to the others mentioned thus far ?

with the price of those tv boxes is it no better just get a small tower pc with win 8.1 and just run what that hell you want on you tv Huh?
i am trying to figure this out and it seems like ever one have it s on opinion on with box is better or not.... i have xbmc in a tower dell 8.1 ,in a galasy s4,in a dell lap top, and in a really cheap tv box that runs android 4.2.2 .
with all that been said, it runs really smooth and great quality image on the galaxy s4,runs great on bolth on my dell computer and laptop, and is very unstable
on the cheap tv box ... so if i got to spend 300 dollars on a tv box is it no better just got a desktop and hide behind the tv some where Huh?

what are the cons of just using a desktopHuh

I'm with you.

I'm using the i3 Haswell NUC in Win7 and plan to keep it that way.

I preferred it to Linux because all the add ones seem to just work right out of the box whereas I had issues with them in OpenELEC.

Plus the WiFi drivers suck for the intel wifi card in OE, keeps dropping connections or disassociating with the AP

which box will run xbmc more stable. The MX android tv box (GBOX MX2 clone) or the ouya. Becuase when i ran xbmc on the mk808 there was a lot of crashing and rebooting.

I say neither. Minix neo x7 mini. Run a custom rom and then it's I great. Very high antutu score and runs Xbmc well. Minix has a Xbmc for thier boxes and pass through audio over hdmi or optical.

Mx2 sucks it's only a dual core so many much better boxes out there then this. Minix x7 and x7 mini, cx919. Maybe fire TV we will know in a month. Many others.

But the x7 mini is far too expensive for me. And i also heard a lot of stories that the x7 mini is not that great if it comes too xbmc. So I really would like the oppinion on the MX ANDROID TV and the OUYA. Which box runs xbmc the best (stability)

Please I have a mini. Running quick shots rom and it is really great. It's only $100 on amazon how is that expensive?
It's a great box running beyond Xbmc or minix Xbmc on it. Plays full 1080p without a hitch.
Ouya is like $5 less. And with the x7 I can overclock it and really make it go. Plus your getting a better processor and 2gb ram vs 1 and a 2 gen old processor in the ouya. Wifi is also much better on the minix. I have had nothing but issues with ouya plus it can't play some 1080 p that I can play on the minix. Now stock rom on the x7 I can't say I don't use it.

There are a lot of Android boxes that you can install just linux in like the gbox. I have the Minix Neo X8-H which some sat is the best current Android box and there is already a way to install just linux on it.

I got the Minix Neo X8-H for $129 here in the states. There are people that resale it for over $200
Reply
@metalizm where'd you get the box for $129? I just got the neo x8 (didn't need the extra dtshd on the x8-h) for $145 on amazon. the x8-h was $165

The x8 is not much faster then the x7. Ouya is not great either. Really the fire TV or the eclipse are the fastest I have seen.
