I a Noob to linux so forgive me.

I have xbmcbuntu and have updated it to Frodo and updated linux via the wiki.
Now I cannot play MP3's music files and the audio is missing from the video tracks and the video is very choppy.
XBMC was working perfectly untill the upgrade. what did I do?

Welcome to the XBMC forums.

Please provide a debug log (wiki) showing you playing an MP3 file and a video file so others can take a look at it and offer suggestions. Please upload the complete log to a public paste site such as www.xbmclogs.com and post the assigned URL here. Thanks.

Ok, I think that I have solved the problem.
Looks like the old nVidia card I have is now not supported in Frodo.

Going to pick one up soon. I'll post the findings when I install it.

its not your nvidia card, its the driver thats too old. Also ubuntu 11.10 is officially out of support, so we can't provide any xbmc updates for it anymore. You should really upgrade ubuntu to 12.04
