i'm also looking into xbmc on android. haven't bought a media player for a few years so not really sure about the state of things at the moment.
for around the $100 mark, is this ouya the best deal going around for vanilla xbmc (eg not boxee or the likes)?
how far off is hardware acceleration support on android? or is this a permanent problem due to the fragmented nature of devices running android?
would i be better off spending ~$200 on a proper HTPC? or should i just resurrect my acer r3610 from a few years ago with a new build of XMBC/openelec?

What manner of nonsense is this? Who in their right mind would put v14 Alpha 1 on a box as a selling point? It's the least stable version of XBMC that you can install in the development cycle.
Might as well claim that it contains cancer and that the cancer makes it go faster. And that it is a special modified cancer specifically for that SoC.

Hahaha, they also claim that v13 doesn't run on amlogic chips at all:

Everyone, take special note of geniebox.ca and remember that they are a specially modified kind of mentally retarded, and that you should not give them money.

Actually I love my fire TV it runs great and it's smooth. I use llama to sacrifice classic TV app so that Xbmc is always in recent.
