[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution

The one in question at the moment is RetrowareTV/Recent Videos.
Says "Building PluginTV, parsing retrowaretv".

Almost all of them were recently checked.... And work, always possible something changed. I'll check out retrowares n let u know.

Thanks Luna! The syntax seems right, but it still just hangs. I added ALL plugins mentioned in addon.xml and am autotuning, stopping and disabling bad ones as they hang. Other offenders for me include:
CNET Podcasts
Funnier Moments
Music Video Jukebox
Screw attack
Videobash
Wimp
...more I'm sure.

It could be different versions? Most of my plugins come from XBMCHub. I'd love to share all of my findings if you find that retrowaretv is actually a bad link (and it's not just my setup).

I'll enable logs and figure it out then! If I can't figure it out, I'll share it with ya.
Thanks for looking into it, Lunatixz!
I have an "I Love Lucy" Channel and have a lot of trouble getting it to work consistently. It usually just hangs on "Loading Channel..." and doesn't change, or changes and still hangs on "Loading Channel..." and I can never get out of it other then to reboot or power off. I am using the latest build, but I have seen this in every build I have tried over the last 2 weeks.

I assume this the error I am seeing:
19:55:52 T:3420 ERROR: EXCEPTION Thrown (PythonToCppException) : -->Python callback/script returned the following error<--

Here is the log.

I re-enabled retroware and it got stuck. Here's my xbmc.log, showing a python error related (if I'm reading this right).

...well that was quick and easy!
not sure if i missed something with the last upgrade, if so just let me know.

I performed a new install of 0.4.9 on this weekend and cannot get it started. Tried this on my regular machine and on a new build.

Settings and settings2.xml are from previous installation and have all the proper info. But when i start PSTL is tells me

"Would you like PseudoTv Live to Auto Tune Channels" if a select no - it is gives me an error ""Unable to find channels. Please go to the addon Settinsto Configure PseudoTV Live" select OK and brings up the configuration screen.

Make a few changes, restart PSTV and back at the "Would you like PseudoTV Live to Auto Tune Channels" this time select yes and it goes into a look bringing me back to the same screen.

thanks.

.......... UPDATE

Luna, I have narrowed this to the settings2.xml file. PSTL goes into a loop when i try to to use it.

Re-installed, let PSTL do its thing ans generate the channels, but when i replaced the file it breaks,

When upgrading, the file is used and the loops occurs automatically.

sorry sorry sorry if this has been answered

how to you change the channel logo to colour when watching a film, as opposed to it being black and white? thats it

many thanks

=============================

got it now
I've been using XBMC for two years...how did I miss this one! I've just installed and let it run autotune just for a tester and am very impressed. If anything, it'll just help with choosing something to watch from the large library.

Couple of questions, and I have searched through this enormous thread and couldn't find anything.

1) - Is it possible to limit adverts to UK broadcasted only. If I want that 'TV' experience, I don't want to be watching adverts that have nothing to do with me, and every advert that's cropped up so far has been American.

2) - I think the answer to this is 'no' but I asked autotune to detect Live TV (I have ArgusTV and the XBMC plug-in running against a PCTV DVB/S2 USB Stick) but I got no live channels listed at all...I guess this may be linked to...

(IGNORE) 3) - Where can I get an XMLTV file from for the EPG assuming I can get Live TV working with my USB stick? (IGNORE)

4) - I'm guessing the answer is smart playlists, but just to confirm...if I have a channel set up to local TV show content, and next on my list is Dexter S06E05, the guide will obviously not necessarily show me that one...in fact it showed me S07E12 at the current timeline. How is watching the 'next' episode handled...do you just have to wait for the timeline to swing around to that episode again or is there a configuration I'm missing somewhere?

(IGNORE) 5) - Can you remove the PseudoTV Live logo from the bottom right corner? (IGNORE)

Sorry if some of these are answered...I did have a look around.

If it is not picking up your channels it is likely one of two problems:

1) Incorrect syntax, or

2) Non-working or incorrect stream path.

I'm not sure but the ".1" syntax in "Channel_2.1_type", etc, might be causing a problem. All of the examples have used whole numbers, so I would try to rename "2.2", "2.3", "2.4", etc to "2", "3", "4", etc.

Also, should your stream paths be ""/home/[username]/xbmc/Media/OnlineTv/HDHomeRun/2.1 - WCBSDT.strm"?
and
perhaps "xbmc" in the path should be ".xbmc"?

Basically recheck that path to make sure it is correct because there are a few things that don't look like the typical path to me.

Go into autotunes in your settings
Try to auto tunning RSS feeds and
Youtube only. see how it responds
To those options first .If it works
Then add another option to auto tune
Till you see what maybe causing issues.
Narrow everything down till you come
Across a bug then go from there.

Sorry if some of these are answered...I did have a look around.

1) Your best bet is to collect a bunch of video files of commercials that you want, put them in a local directory, and then pull from that directory for your commercials.

...

5) Look in the settings, there is an option under "visual" I believe that allows you disable the channel bug.
As an aside, the current implementation of the channel bug is inconsistent with creating a cable TV experience as each channel has the same channel bug. Perhaps, unless I missed something already, a better implementation would be to pull the individual channel logos to use as channel bugs.

Thanks for this...think I'll just disable the adverts altogether. Can't be bothered to download new ones every month or two to keep it fresh. I found the channel logo setting after reading through Milkman's guide for PseudoTV...brilliant guide.

Now I just need to see if I can get the live TV streams from my PCTV to work! I think I can work that out from the guides for MediaPortal & HDHomeRun with any luck...they all work much the same under the hood.
I've been using this for going on 10 months now but before last weekend I hadn't updated in quite a while. All I can say is Wow!. Luna you have really made some tremendous progress over the last several months. I am loving all of the new community autotune additions and especially the Playon feature. I was begining to think Playon was a waste of money for me because it's user interface on XBMC leaves a lot to be desired (i.e no search) and no one was ever using it. This totally makes it worth it, I can now use netflix and hulu to create any kind of channel I want. I just wish I had waited and bought it through your link....In anycase I will be sending you another small donation for all of your efforts.
Keep up the good work Smile
