Did u happen to try the audi mixer within xbmc? Just an idea to try before u do something more complicated?

The audio mixer addon doesn't work anymore and shouldn't be used.

apparently this issue with ffmpeg may get resolved in kodi v.16 release...

i hope so anyway its a small annoyance but still annoying!!

So test a nightly - no need to hope, you can test it. From my knowledge the audio driver of the ATV is the problem at least on those normally use "pre iceage" kernels the usual suspects ship :-)
