I have XBMC on a jailbroken iPad2 and ATV2 and on a RasBMC. All of a sudden none of their media sources are working. I have reset all my network connections and reset the NAS that the media is located on. The NAS is a Seagate GoFlex 2TB drive. The upnp is turned on and so is the sharing. As part of the troubleshooting, I updated all but the RasBMC to Frodo 12.2. When I try to add the locations again, I go through the SMB and I get an error that says "Operation not permitted". I can get to the location where the videos are located through the computer. I have also installed XBMC on my computer and was able to add the locations for the media through SMB on the computer. I have also been able to add my movies through UPNP on the iPad and RasBMC. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

I have a similar setup and use the ip address of the GoFlex as the network source (although I've never had issues with SMB either)
