Can't SSH into RaspPi with standard creds
#1
I just set up an RPi with OpenElec and it boots and runs just fine - looks great! Now I want to try out the MPEG2 license, which requires the RPi serial number. To get the serial number, you need a console or shell on the RPi. Since I don't have the patience to wire up a console USB connector, I just tried SSH. I used the standard creds for OpenElec (root/openelec) but I was denied.

Now what?

I think you need to enable ssh inside openelec settings. I think adding ssh to cmdline.txt also works.

I found that, and did that, too. But if I can get a prompt, doesn't that mean that SSH is enabled? I was able to get the prompt before and after altering the command line. Here's what I see:

$ ssh [email protected]
[email protected]'s password:
Permission denied, please try again.

If its official vanilla openelec it should work out of the box, unless you got a pre-installed version & they changed the root password?Huh
