You'll have to give some more information. For all I know, you're using a skin that only has a white background option, but I don't even know what skin you're using. Nor do I know what version of XBMC you're using, what OS you're using, etc. At least get a
debug log (wiki) to us, and that will answer most of those questions.

Sure enough, XBMC is freaking out about the background image. I'll see who I can poke about this.
I don't know if it would make a difference, but try temp moving/renaming your
userdata folder (wiki) to rule out some corrupt file or setting.

Was there any further research into this problem? I just recently clean installed Windows 7 x64 and XBMC 12.2 using an ATI 5450 card doing HDMI video and sound to my TV. I have not changed anything with the skin at all, left everything vanilla with the Confluence theme. The same machine runs the MySQL database for the Movies, TV Shows and Music (all that works great, in fact I migrated it from another machine without fault). But at random times, the skin background goes pure white. The foreground text still shows, I can still navigate the menus but when I try to play anything the "waiting" cursor just spins. I need to actually exit XBMC and reopen it to get it to work properly.
