Just back after a week vacation and all kinds of problems. Had XBMCbuntu running on multiple computers in my house before leaving and everything was working fine. Now, strangely, I can stream add on tv shows and movies using a plugged in keyboard but cannot make connections using an XBMC remote on an ipad, I cannot ssh in to the pc's, and I cannot even ping the machines (Destination Host Unreachable). Anybody ever experience anything like this?

did you setup each htpc with a static ip, or are they getting ips from a dhcp server? if the latter, dhcp probably gave them new addresses. this would make them seem not to be there on the network, but still able to play media. you should be able to set static in xbmcbuntu, but you can also specify the ip in your dhcp server (or router) using the mac address of each machine.

I am using dhcp but I can see the host machine name and associated ip address in the router's ip table so I know I am trying to access the right ip remotely.
