Airplay Sound to XBMC
#1
Hey Folks,

I'm trying to stream Spotify to my XBMC device from OSX Mountain Lion but hitting lots of walls. I can stream audio from iTunes and all my iOS devices, but not directly from my Mac. I can see XBMC as an option in audio outputs, but when I select it, the sound stops on the mac for a few seconds (presumably while it tries to connect) before it comes back on the mac (after failing to connect).

How can I make it work?

I'm running Frodo (12.0) on a windows device.

I've scoured the forums and found one similar post that offered a solution of downgrading to Lion but thats not an option for me (new laptop).

Thanks!

enable airtunes debugging like stated here:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=advancedsett...ebuglog.3E

then post a

debug log (wiki) ...

Also try a nightly build or the latest alpha build if possible to see if it is fixed there already...

Same problem, though I'm not on the latest build

Both of you are using outdated versions (mattybe - 11.0 <- there won't be any fixes for 11.0 anymore anyways).

Also this is the macosx forum - one of you is running xbmc on windows and the other one on linux.

I want to know if this is already fixed in current nightlies - if possible As we have replaced the airtunes library (at least for linux) on that version...

Still happening in nightly. With nightly I do now see a desktop mirroring option, but both that and audio streaming crash.

In this log though, I successfully streamed from iTunes

@Memphiz - don't want to nag, but does this seem like a legitimate bug? Should I repost under Linux support, or do you need any more info?

It seems like iTunes still uses AirTunes which works, but desktop streaming or full audio output streaming uses AirPlay, which crashes.

Based on the Last log this will Never work. The AirTunes Client (spotify) wants to init a FairPlay encrypted Connection to xbmc. Xbmc doesn't Support this Kind of encryption and also announces this (the fact that the Client tries to init a fp connection anyways points to a crappy client imo).

Beside that - Music is always streamed via AirTunes Protocol and Never via AirPlay (which only does pictures and Video urls - no Real streaming Data)

Sry - not a bug - but something we can't Support because that fp stuff is not cracked...

For the Initial Poster - try to disable ipv6 on the Mac...

Just saw this. Thanks for your reply. Annoyingly, it seems that apple implemented their system-wide audio-only streaming through FairPlay
