My HTPC Build
#1
I am looking to build an HTPC for watching movies, listening to music and gaming. Most of my games will be older console games such as N64 but I will also be playing some newer pc games such as Assassin's Creed. The parts I am looking at are as follows. Please let me know if this works and makes sense for what I'm doing.

SilverStone Aluminum/Steel Micro ATX Media Center/HTPC Case ML03B (Black)

1. That PSU is not modular. Not a big deal, just be aware.

2. That wifi card is doesn't have a low-profile bracket, so unless you get a flexible riser and can stick it in the horizontal slot above the CPU you'll need to get another card that is half-height/low-profile.

What does it mean if a PSU is modular or not? Can you direct me to a wifi card with bluetooth that will fit?

a modular PSU means you can disconnect cables you don't need. With a non-modular PSU you will just have to the bundle the cables you don't need and find a place in the case to put them.

For your other question, I think Gigabyte is the only one who makes cards with wifi and bluetooth together. It's possible you can use this here http://www.amazon.com/HOTER-PCI-E-Expres...e+x1+riser

Ok after I've edited what I'm getting a bunch of times I think I finally have it down. My only question is, is my case and power supply enough to run everything? And is this psu modular/ is it a big deal if it isn't.

I'm going with these parts:

Rosewill Mini ITX Tower/ Desktop Computer Case with 250-Watts 20+4Pin and 1 SATA Connector RS-MI-01 BK
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Q7J...PDKIKX0DER

MSI Computer Corp. DDR3 1066 FM2 Motherboard FM2-A75IA-E53
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2VJ...PDKIKX0DER

AMD A8-5500 APU 3.2Ghz Processor AD5500OKHJBOX
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0095VP...PDKIKX0DER

Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit (PC3 12800) 240-Pin SDRAM KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037TO...PDKIKX0DER

Crucial m4 64GB 2.5-Inch (9.5mm) SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive CT064M4SSD2
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W2J...WM029G8KCW

Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heat Pipes (RR-GMM4-16PK-R2)

Again thanks so much for all the help because otherwise I'd be totally lost.

No that power supply is not a modular supply.
This would be an example of a modular supply.

Does that power supply have enough wattage to run all of my components plus adding a possible graphics card down the road. Also if anyone knows anything about the dolphin emulator is that chip good enough to run it?

I added this graphics card

Gigabyte Radeon HD 6670 2GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 DVI-I/HDMI/D-SUB Crossfire Ready Graphics Card GV-R667D3-2GI
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0086A7...PDKIKX0DER

Will crossfire work with this paired with my current cpu?

I also switched my case and power supply to these

SilverStone Aluminum/Steel Micro ATX Media Center/HTPC Case ML03B (Black)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GGU...PDKIKX0DER

SilverStone Strider 500W, 80 PLUS, Active PFC Power Supply ST50F-ES (Black)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034XR...PDKIKX0DER

Just wondering what you guys think about this build for what I will be using it for. (Movies and gaming)

Adding a HD6670 GPU to an A8 APU makes little sense. The integrated GPU is nearly on par with the HD6670. If you're looking for a more powerful system, you'd be better off with a Intel Pentium CPU and a more powerful GPU like a HD7750.

I was reading up on it and was under the impression that with crossfire I could run the integrated gpu and discreet gpu at the same time as long as they matched effectively doubling the graphics power? Let me know if this is incorrect

Just a suggestion,...but, don't get the graphics card,....at least not yet.
Try the integrated graphics and see how it stands up to your expectations,...
I'm guessing that you'll be pleasantly surprised and find you may not need a discrete card.

Just get the A10. It should be more than enough for n64 and dolphin. Scrap the extra card and get a bigger ssd.
