You're going to think I'm crazy here, but the other day I entered XBMC and the home screen Bottom Menu was missing. From the home screen, nothing visual happens when I press the down key, other than the usual audiable click.
I've since found that by just entering into the System>Skin Settings>Customizers>Main menu item customizer screen, without touching anything, just simply escaping back to the home screen, the Bottom Menu reappears. For clarity; when checking, "Activate Bottom Menu (Play DVD, toggle widgets)" is always enabled.
I've not found any pattern yet, but having acknowledged/used the Bottom Menu thoughout the day, it disappears. Each time I need to enter the "Main menu item customizer" screen and exit to use the Bottom Menu again. This happens a few times a day.
I hope I've explained myself. Terrible at explaining this sort of thing
