CuBox-i a new possibility?

I have this problem with the GeexBox build, but the OpenElec build 17780 plays them fine.

My 720p problems were gone at the end of the 3.035 wolfgar.git cycle of GeexBox, GeexBox nightlies are more future oriented now. and the 720p skips are back but the video is more watchable.

How is the cubox compared to the pi in terms of speed? I use add ons like 1channel and icefims i never stream stuff from my NAS so that doesn't concern me I just want something faster than the pi.

I have a Cubox-i4Pro, and it is much faster than the Pi. When watching recorded tv and skipping through the commercials, the Pi would take 2-3s per skip. The Cubox-i4 does skips as fast as my PC. Maybe others that have less-powerful brothers of the i4Pro can comment how they perform compared to the Pi?

- You can use Aeon Nox 4.1.9 version, and the speed is fine.
- It can play 120Mbps h264 mkv files without dropping frames.

Cubox will be a possibility for me when it supports HD Audio (DTS-HD, Dolby True HD) which it doesn't at the moment.

Can the i4Pro play Blu-ray ISO's?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to be able to run XBMC on Android and would like the ability to play HD MPEG2 (PVR, perferrably hardware accelerated), DTS/AC3 HDMI passthrough, and take advantage of android video apps like netflix, HBO go, etc. Read the thread and have a few questions for any owners.

1) How is running XBMC Gotham Beta's on Android?
2) Does it support HDMI AC3/DTS passthrough (I don't need it to be HD Audio)
3) Anybody try 1080i MPEG2 running on Android?
4) Android video apps (Netflix, etc) work okay?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely points 1, 2 & 3 work fine if you use a non-Android build. You can just make an image of Geexbox on an SD Card (which is similar to OpenElec).
I have not tried on Android, because didn't want to use Android. You can also run XBMC on linux (e.g. ArchLinux, and Ubuntu soon).
Cubox-i is fast, and can run the Aeon Nox skins with no problem.

mk123 clearly has an agenda, because he has posted on the cubox-i forum that he will post damaging comments at any opportunity about cubox-i.
He doesn't want you to read about people who say xbmc is fine in Android

here: http://imx.solid-run.com/forums/viewtopi...t=30#p6608
and from the developers here: http://imx.solid-run.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=536

For now the best XBMC development for cubox-i is available in: Geexbox, OpenElec, Yocto, and linux.
People who have an axe to grind about Android XBMC not working should remember that Android XBMC was not officially supported in Frodo, and Gotham is still in Beta.

Is LIRC working? Can i use any controller? Or does the IR receiver only work with RC-6 or 5 compatible controllers?

Don't know. Maybe ask in http://imx.solid-run.com/forums/
I use mine with a Harmony remote, which is fine.
Some models have an IR receiver and Transmitter. I guess you are wanted to use lirc to send signals out from the cubox.

joelbaby - how are you running xbmc? geexbox? openelec?
I've tried geexbox and couldn't watch live tv - i have an hdhomerun and am using the WMC server add-in. all the HD channels wouldn't display, I'd get a frame or two of content then a long pause. also had no audio on the menu screens and some blu-ray rips stuttered.

after looking at the openELEC installation steps, I decided against that
am hoping to have this box run something soon. I have the ultra, or whatever their top model was called

Thanks, I have Raspberry Pi's and with the newclock3 builds they run extremely well. I really have no reason to upgrade my devices if I'm going to have to run some form of Linux. The reason I'm interested in using android is to take advantage of the apps written for android (Netflix, Hulu, HBO-Go, Showtime, and many many more).

I appreciate this information! Can anybody comment on the android applications?
