DDNS, Dynamic DNS registering
#1
hello all!

just a suggestion. if we use dhcp, and put the box on the net, then we could have a dyndns client (like the opensource ddclient) to register a dyndns hostname. this way the myxbmc.dyndns.org name would always resolve the ip of the xbox.

when i for instance then come over a nice movie or the likes at work i could just ftp it over right away. Smile same with maybe fotos and such.

is this an idea?

i don't think it's possible yet ?

this would (probably) be very easy to accomplish with a python script... there are many python dyndns clients available.

this would be a really useful feature since static ip is not possible with wireless connections.

i have a dynamic dns (****.myftp.org).
somehow xbmc doesn't look it up when i try to access it.
do i have to do anything to make it work? ( it does in the old xbmp)

has anyone got it to work?
