Some thoughts on this, which perhaps Rob may be able to complement/correct:
When using televisiontunes as scraper, you are telling TVTunes to fetch everything via this scraper, regardless of being movies or tvshows. Therefore, if you are fetching for movies I am afraid you won't get satisfactory results. This is actually the only scraper whose search isn't up to TvTunes at all! It happens on the website's side and the results aren't 'treated' or 'filtered'. This because it is a website tailor-made only for TV shows' themes, hence the correct result is most of the time the first entry on the retrieved list, which accounts for a high level of success when set to automatic download. The other scrapers are actually at another level using a very elaborated search and filtering method, becoming incredibly, and sometimes, overwhelmingly efficient with respect to finding themes for either movies or tv shows.
The latter becomes evident in that the way in which the entries are displayed and offered to the users, and becomes tremendously useful when interacting manually, as wgstarks points. It gives you a lot of power search even for those really rare and complicated titles with HD sound qualities that are way above the ones offered by televisiontunes.com.
They retrieve themes and display the multiple entries sorted by 4 different levels of filtering criteria; now, for each group there is no sorting by level of accuracy, which means that whilst most of the entries for that group could be highly accurate, its first entry may not be. Since automatic download fetches the first entry on the first group displayed, then the level of accuracy could jump randomly back and forth from high to low, rendering automatic download highly unreliable.
I hope that clarifies some of the reasons as to why TvTunes is designed with user interaction in mind for general operation (not specialised to just one scraper, televisiontunes.com in this case)
The priorities in which the filtered results are shown on the entries list are:
priority 1 = * (full match: most accurate match in relation to TvTunes' pre-defined soundtrack music tags/appendixes)
priority 2 = ~ (album only match: only the album name (not the artist) contains one of the search terms)
priority 3 = + (title only match: only the track title contains one of the search terms)
priority 4 = (everything else: all which was filtered out)
