Hallo

Why not use Compiz? I read that overall. But XBMC run perfect. If I test uninstall compiz, then destroy I me Untiy Desktop. Ubuntu 13.04 !!! Crash, black Screen, no Terminal access. I must have new install Ubuntu. I'm not linux specialist.

Uninstall complete compiz in Ubuntu 12.04 no problem. Has sadly no effect, because no Intel Graphics driver installed ... no vaapi support ...

It interferes with XBMC somehow. You can always uninstall unity and install a different desktop environment like LXDE. You should be able to easily switch by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1 to get to a terminal, then run sudo tasksel, de-select Unity then select LXDE and hit OK.

Hallo,

okay. Have I right understand? Compiz is include Unity and Gnome only? All other desktop environment have no Compiz? If yes, do you know a fast 2D desktop environment? Or is the Gnome fallback session in Ubuntu 13.04 without Compiz? The Unity 2D Desktop in Ubuntu 12.04 to be very fast.

I personally use Mint 13 XFCE with XBMC 12.2 and it works like a charm

I find a very fast desktop environment for VNC Remote Access. In my old installation with ubuntu 12.04 to be "Unity 2D Mode" very fast. Now I need a other alternative for Ubuntu 13.04. This have no 2D Mode or the Gnome fallback session. This is fast, but not fast enough. Has Window ghosting.
