Lenovo Q190 vs BOXDC3217IYE vs ZBox id83..

Looking for a simple seamless appliance I can use to stream movies via XBMC stored on an external HDD.

These three caught my eye while researching and curious what you guys think. Movies would be stored on an external USB HDD, and majority would be bluray rip or less.

No other plans for the appliance at all. Let me know what other details you need, but would love the input.

Thanks![/quote]

I'm actually seeing evn more small systems for even less money on newegg by shuttle and Foxconn as example.

What processor should I focus on?

Do you want to display content that's 2D or 3D?

Zero plans on 3D, ever.. If that changes down the road, I'd upgrade device, but seriously doubt.

Good to know because that means you don't *have* to get an i3.

I should have also asked Windows or OpenELEC?

OpenELEC is just fine with me. No need for Windows either.

The Lenovo Q190 or any Celeron 8x7 or C10x7U based PC (e.g. Intel NUC) is a good choice for OpenELEC.

Got it, thank you. What about Atom? Or can it not keep up..

Also, how are either of these? I like the price point..

Either of those, on paper, should be fine.

Unless you get an Atom with Nvidia GT610 built in, the GPU in the Atom (GMA3600/3650) is not supported by OpenELEC.

I know there are some users of the Foxconn here who've opened threads. I would search the forum for the Foxconn one.
