Sorry if this has been asked before
Is it possible to get XMBC to work on mag250 boxes?
I have tried to download it from the apple section ATV and ATV2 but no Joy
Does it even work on the mag250 and how?

It doesn't run any actual operating system, at least none that we support:
Hardware requirements (wiki). In other words, no, it cannot be done.

the OS for the mag250 is Linux 2.6.23.
theoretically it should allow download of kodi...i haven't tried but am curious

Linux isn't an OS. Linux is a kernel. Tons of stuff run a Linux kernel but can't have Kodi installed. My cable box from the cable company has a Linux kernel, but an OS that isn't compatible at all, even if it was "open".
