I think most of us use a custom ordered channel list so it makes no sense to change this within xbmc.
For now please use your backend to sort your channels. IMO it's minor priority.

I think it is a must have feature. I have 200+ channels, so custom ordering is not an option.
And, yes as said above almost any cheap tv/sat reciever has such a feature, too bad xbmc doesn't.

This is already implemented in master (the list can be sorted by number like previously, or alphabetically by name, both ascending and descending).
