Yes, I will download a .torrent file from tracker with registration and open it by plugin.

23MB for a plugin? what sort of bloatware is that?also even 1080p videos have artifacts and look pixelated....the plugin works and I appreciate you created it but not at the cost of playback quality.

23MB because there is a version in the zip for each system (win, linux etc...). There is an open issue about that. 0.4.0 should fix this.

About the playback quality, that has nothing to do with XBMCtorrent, but the torrent you chose to stream. Try higher quality torrents next time.

Try searching for other releases on PirateBay for instance.

XBMCtorrent just streams the torrent to XBMC, it doesn't re-encode or anything like that. Whatever artifacts are the result of the file you're trying to stream.
However there is only one type of artifacts XBMCtorrent could responsible of, and it would be data corruption artifacts, in which case if would be barely playable.

Just so I know though, can you tell me (via PM) which files you were trying?
Also, could you make some screenshots? (so I can check if it is indeed data corruption)

Thanks Smile

Hey! Thanks for trying it out.

Can you try in your shell these commands and give me the output?
Code:
$ /bin/nice
$ which nice

I've opened an issue regarding this: https://github.com/steeve/xbmctorrent/issues/28

Thanks!

Ok. I've updated the issue, it's going to be fixed Smile

In the mean time, you can fix it yourself by editing
Code:
~/.xbmc/addons/plugin.video.xbmctorrent/resources/site-packages/xbmctorrent/torrent2http.py

Change line 37 from:
Code:
args = ["/bin/nice", "-n", str(NICE_LEVEL)] + args

to
Code:
args = ["nice", "-n", str(NICE_LEVEL)] + args

or if it does't work:
Code:
args = ["/usr/bin/nice", "-n", str(NICE_LEVEL)] + args

Finally, I would advise you run OpenELEC (it's so much faster than Raspbmc).

Yes, I will download a .torrent file from tracker with registration and open it by plugin.

I've got another idea.

What about adding support for magnet links to the Play-to-XBMC chrome extension?
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...kpakkebden

This way, you just click a magnet link (and maybe later .torrent file) in Chrome and boom, it opens on your XBMC instance.

Good to know it's working Smile

Yeah it can be quite slow to start on Raspi. Especially 1080p.
Also, make sure you have a fast SD card (class 10).

And maybe set the Download Path (in the addon settings) to somewhere faster maybe Smile

Issues have been opened on XBMCtorrent and Play-to-XBMC:
https://github.com/steeve/xbmctorrent/issues/29
https://github.com/khloke/play-to-xbmc-chrome/issues/10

So it's likely to happen soon Smile

Yes this is because of several factors:
  • We are streaming and downloading at the same time
  • The torrent download is competing with XBMC for the CPU (even though is has a lower priority, the "nice" I got you to fix)
  • If your hard drive isn't formatted in ext4, then the filesystem (FAT32, exFAT, NTFS) is also competing for the CPU, slowing down performance

These are the reasons why I'm highly advising you to overclock and maybe try OpenELEC >= 3.2.3.

Hope for the best Smile
