Linux Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto)
Same with OpenELEC?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
Behavior was the exact same with Openelec, on the log from previous OE post. Or do you mean get me the same logs?
Then I don't have any idea.

Thx. I will keep digging. There is some obscure mention of disabling snooping. Also gpu power management maybe. So I have a few things still to try. What I find strange is that PA/full-desktop fixes it but it has to go through alsa. So the answer is somewhere in there.
Hi. I have been following the OP and everything is working fine. There is one slight issue that I have not been able to figure out why. Maybe it is not related to vdpau but is more a general XBMC issue. Please redirect me if this isn't the right place to ask.

I usually connect my HTPC directly to the TV (because my wife doesn't approve I turn on the receiver all the time). In these days I manage to connect my HTPC directly to the receiver (yay). If I turn on both the HTPC and the receiver, everything is fine. Now here is the issue I am experiencing. If I just turn on the HTPC alone, say, because I just want to ssh into the computer and do some stuff, and later on if I turn on the receiver and the TV, I don't see the XBMC home screen but the whole TV display is just pink. I am not able to get out of it until I reboot the HTPC. I don't remember if I have the same issue previously when I connect the HTPC directly to the TV without the receiver.

Thanks in advance.
I have skipping frames when playing back content with 23.976fps. When I look at the 'O' output I see the skipped counter of the video presenter increasing every 40 seconds or so. Now the thing is that the decoding tells it is only doing 23.95fps. So it is decoding too slow making it logical it has to skip a frame every so many seconds to get to the display's 23.98fps. I also checked with 'Z' that the screen is indeed at 23.98fps. So why is it not decoding at 23.98fps?

This is done with the preferred settings from the opening post on OE 4.0beta2 on a AMD e-350. Every movie with 23.976fps is affected. Switching to ffmpeg-master gives the same result.

When I put the debugging on, the XBMC log is telling only (if needed I can provide the whole file):
21:22:08 T:140420482832128 DEBUG: CDVDPlayerAudio:: Duplicating packet of 10 ms
21:24:01 T:140421378135872 DEBUG: Previous line repeats 16 times.

Which is if I understand correctly because the audio clock is matched to the video clock. Since the video clock is too slow it is dropping frames to catch up and therefore it also has to drop audio packets.
Thanks for cutting the logfile.

For all those asking for 14.04, head over to: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=189553 which is the testing thread for new xbmcbuntu based on 14.04 Trusty.

I think fritsch should then start practicing his sarcasm Nod

Nope, you should start to read the first post. There is clearly written what logfiles are required.

Play that and provide a logfile only with that one playing: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...lannad.mkv (make sure to have Deinterlace set to Auto and Scaling set to bilinear).

xbmc.log: http://sprunge.us/SHaO
dmesg: http://sprunge.us/CQfg
Xorg.0.log: http://sprunge.us/GUAj

The information listed by pushing 'O' showed again 23.95fps and 2 or 3 times a frame was skipped.
I need /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr output when the video is playing and also your Sync Playback to Display Method.

Edit: skip does not really matter. The OSD puts a lot of load on the renderer. If you only have 3 while having it open - all is fine. If you get 3 per second you have a problem.

xbmc-xrandr (while playing): http://sprunge.us/XjVH
Sync method is like instructed in the opening post set to: Videoclock (drop dupe audio)

Having the OSD open or not has no influence on the dropping of frames. The fact that with your clip there are only ~3 drops is because the clip is very short. The frames are dropped around every 40 seconds, which corresponds quite nicely with a 1000/1001 problem, as in 23.976-0.024=23.952. Exactly what I am noticing.

In the log posted earlier; Why is CVideoReferenceClock: Clock speed 100.100000? What does this mean that the decoding is done 0.1% too fast?
