XBMCbuntu dims during playback
#1
Hi all,

I just switched from Win 7/XBMC to XBMCbuntu(NVidia)

And one thing that has been bothering me, and I can't seen to resolve, is that when I'm watching a movie/show the picture goes dark when there are dark scenes and jumps back when the lighting changes.

I notice this because the subtitles/logo changes from white to greyish and back to white.

Has anybody seen this before?

I'm running a AMD motherboard with an Nvidia Graphicscard (Don't know the models off thetop of my head.)

sounds like a TV setting. In my Toshiba its called "Active Backlight Control" (or something similar)

Never had this problem running Win7/XBMC.

But I'll have a look when I get home tonight.

I've checked all the settings on my tv regarding power, all of them were already switched off.

Watched an episode of Futurama, which is very bright, and no problem, watched an episode of Marvel Agents of SHIELD, problem is there.
The problem only appears when watching a dark scene.

Installed OPENELEC, same issue...

Any other ideas?

not really, did you check logs? can you get the output of xrandr -q --verbose while the issue is there and while its not there(both while playing the video)

I've solved the problem by going back to the Windows version, no issues there playing anything.
