I Have a Qnap 869L with 8 4tb drives @ Raid 6 + 3GB RAM
The NAS works well but unfortunately because of driver issues will be stuck at xbmc 11. For the most part if I convert movies to mp4 they stream with little issue. But Ideally id like to be able to stream other formats.
All that said I am now looking to add an hptc to the mix and just point it to the NAS for movie streaming. Pre built htpc is what I am after as I simply don't have the time to hunt down parts and get it built/configured.
I am not really doing any gaming or anything else with it, just playing movies. My budget ideally is 1000 give or take a little. Id like something powerful enough to stream large blu ray quality films - upwards of 20gb (mkv, mp4, m4v...etc) without issue. Most cases only to one tv, worst case 2. Most importantly XBMC compatible and if possible plex.
I am less concerned with storage space as I am with processing power/memory. As I will not be storing anything on it other than software required to run.
There is an absolute flood of products out there, kind of overwhelming. I would suspect with the right htpc and the nas box I should have little issue with this.
Thanks for any advice!
