Linux CPU, something is not right
#1
Hey Team,

After installing XBMC I noticed the CPU was constantly maxed, after some googling I turned off the RSS feed and it quickly reduced the usage down to 1%, great! However whenever I'm browsing the menu's or sitting on a menu screen that has updating information the CPU quickly max's back to 100%.

Surley this isn't normalHuh

It's defiantly the video drivers, as I installed OpenELEC to see if it had the same issue (and it doesn't), quite obvious really now I think about it.

What the settings should be.

-Video Settings
--GPU: Mesa DRI Intel Haswell
--OpenGL Vendor: intel open source technology center
--OpenGL Version: 3.0 Mesa 9.2.1

Now I just need to replicate this to an actual ubuntu install.

Theres many posts that show how to install correct drivers on intel, its been covered a bit to death both on forums and google.
But yes your right by default sometimes the wrong drivers get installed.

I couldn't find much information out there to be honest, most of the guides use the graphic interface tool from intel... doesn't really help me.

If anyone has any documentation on correcting the intel integrated driver, would appreciate it.

Thanks

I've already followed those steps, and it didn't update any video settings after I restarted in XBMC.

Have you tried the xswat or xorg-edgers ppa? They contain updated drivers

I feel my issue is I've added a few in there, and I need to maybe remove all the unnecessary/old ones.
