Hello everyone,
I was researching on how to integrate XBMC as seamlessly as possible on Windows 8.1 last night.
Here is a great guide that I found:

A few tips in regards to the article:
On Step 1 - if you have an ASRock motherboard and want to change the BIOS splashscreen, follow this tutorial here:

When following the guide, note that the name to the actual file containing the BIOS splash screen will vary based on the model of your motherboard. The first portion of the file name however, should be the same.
On Step 2 - when modifying the log in screen color, use this tool instead. I found the other one doesn't work on Windows 8.1:

Hibernating Tips:
In XBMCLauncher, set it to start XBMC after Hibernation but also set it to close XBMC prior to Hibernation.
That way XBMC is always clean upon start up of your HTPC.
In Advanced Power Options, ensure you have "Allow Wake Up Timers" set to disabled. This will ensure your HTPC isn't woken up from scheduled tasks.

In Power Options, select "Chose what a power button does" and you can set the sleep button to Hibernate. That way if you have an MCE remote with a sleep button, you can now hibernate your HTPC instead of sleep.
I hope this helps, I meant to put in the tutorials section but I did not have sufficient privileges to do so.
