HELP with htpc build
#1
hi all i really want to build a htpc ive been reading up on many things on here and everywhere on the web and basically there's to much information some of it old and some new and don't know which direction to go in so here is what i i want and need maybe you all could point me in the right direction

ok the things i definitely want are full on/off power with a remote hopefully with a harmony to control everything tv home theatre and htpc with xmbc

the system will be windows based and i would like to make it a gaming rig as well but not a huge gamer but would like to run current games smoothly and fit a gigabyte 7970 which is 34cm in length i believe

if everything works with a harmony remote would a harmony also control a tv tuner card like a Hauppauge HVR-2210 something like this can be added later or if the ir is compatible with a harmony or something like it the main component for the remote functions if possible

an i3 or i5 should be fine not to bothered about that

i have found some htpc cases like the silverstone ones but logitech doesn't support those yet and are expensive i checked the logitech web site and antec fusion cases are supported but not to sure about availability in australia

would a soundgraph elite work just as well which antec sell as well

im open to cases being receiver style or mid tower
mobo and ram and everything else should have have everything i need but not to pricey
Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H Intel Mainboard - LGA 1150 $113
G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ (2x2GB) DDR3 probally go 2x4gb
Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD Retail Box – $99.00

thank you in advance please set me in the right direction my head hurts

Are you trying to have the IR receiver integrated into your case? You can use an external receiver and use any case you wish.
HTPC: Win 7 Home 64-bit | MB | CPU | GPU | RAM | Case | PSU | Tuner | HDDs: OS, Media | DVD Burner | Remote
Media server: unraid 4.7 | CPU | MB | RAM | Case | PSU | HDDs: Parity-2TB, Data-2x2TB

yes i would like it intergrated into case like this http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=705075&pid=57 or http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=705076&pid=57 or this http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=705388&pid=57
ive seen plenty of usb IR but none ive found power on the htpc
but am definitely open to any other kind of IR receiver as long as it will work with xmbc and power on and off htpc

Certain ASRock, ECS and Intel motherboards with a CIR header and this internal CIR receiver will turn on/off PCs:

what im thinking so far

ASRock/Intel/ECS CIR Receiver w/Cable and a Custom Mounting Bracket for use with CIR Motherboards http://shop.inteset.com/intel-cir-receiver

COOLER MASTER HAF XB TOP WINDOW (RC-902XB-KWN1) http://www.cnettech.com.au/ProductDetail...nhqbPml58E

Mainboard Unknown intel/asrock/ECS with CIR

i5 or i3 and depending on what mainboard i get

2x 4gb ram can sort that out later easy enough

should this with a ssd be a good base for my htpc for gaming and movies and using a harmony remote or something similar to a harmony

//ignore my fail. didn't mean to pull up an old thread
//what I get for multiple tabs and not paying close enough attention

Here is the board I'm using with cir

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813121597

Intel BOXDH77DF

works really well with my harmony.

This board is a bit dated but I'm really happy with it.
