I just purchased (will be delivered within 5 days) bought in UK

NUC Kit D54250WYK (BOXD54250WYK)
8GB (2x4GB) Ballistix Sport DDR3 SO-DIMM 1600MHz PC3-12800 CL9 1.35v
Crucial M500 120GB mSATA Internal SSD with MU03 Firmware (haswell fix)

The ram is excessive for HTPC, however for the dual boot OS as I will require a second work machine for Architecture 3D render and node rendering etc.
On the XBMC side will be Linux (bare no Desktop no window managers) + XBMC with some MCE remote.

Main HTPC is still a ION gen 1 dual core and this NUC will have a lot to live up to, that's sure, Cost wise its around same I paid back when for the Asrock ION 330HT.

It's crazy, isn't it, how cheap things have gotten! I think about my first few PCs that I spent $2500 for and what $2500 would get me now -- 5 new PCs Smile.

Not as cheap rather as expensive. Wink one htpc then costing same as now .ven if different hw.

Its only "as expensive" because it is not an HTPC. It is a CAD workstation which is so small that you can use it as an HTPC .

I can report that VC-1 is unbelievably still broken with these drivers
