720P 60FPS?
#1
Hi Guys,

I'm just getting starting with PVR (HDHomeRun Prime + WMC PVR) and I have a question about frame rates.

The first recording I tested was of Almost Human and the broadcast was 720P at 60FPS.

When converting -- using Handbrake or WMCBuddy -- should I output at 60FPS?

It looks like most digital files, including iTunes releases of this show, are 24FPS.

Is it possible/optimcal, to convert to 24FPS, or should I stick with 60?

The picture looks ever so slightly "fuzzy" when I shrink it using Handbrake/MCEBuddy around 4,000kbs bitrate.

Thanks,

Owen

Or, do I need to change a.setting to record at 24fps?

So to answer my own question... I'm not sure if it's right or wrong, but I managed to accomplish this using Handbrake.

I used RF19 and set the framerate to 23.976 and it looks great on my TV.

Nothing is broadcast at 60fps AFAIK.

Why are you transcoding?

I'm out of practice, but I think technically US HD 1080i and 720i are broadcast at 60 fields per second. Not quite the same thing, but when recording, WMC PVR spits out a 60fps file.
