When I watch Live TV, the first channel I pick works fine. If I try to switch to a different channel, it says "buffering" and is always less than 10%, and it never changes the channel.

I have tried the NShared.dll patch, but then NPVR does not work at all (it cannot play any live tv.)

Switching channels works absolutely fine in NPVR. It is when I try this in XBMC that it doesn't work.

I am not using HDHomerun or anything like that.

I have seen questions similar to this in this forum, but not exactly.

I am running XMBC on a new Windows 8.1 machine.

The TV card is Hauppauge HVR 2250

Any help would be appreciated.

That patch is for the old NextPVR release. You'd be better off running the current 3.1.1, which has a later version of NShared.dll. If that doesn't help, post the question on the NextPVR forums, along with a zipped attachment containing the NextPVR logs directory, and the xbmc.log and I'll take a look.

Are you using XBMC on Windows, or something else?
