Win Installed ServerWMC, XBMC Add-on, Still no LiveTV
#1
So I've got Windows 7 x64, Hauppauge 2250,

I've installed the Server WMC and I've configured the folders to an external USB hard drive I have labeled F:

I've installed the XBMC add-on, enabled and I no longer have connection lost popping up every few seconds so I assume they are communicating.

I've enabled PVR in XBMC.

I've tested browsing the F:\RecordedTV path using File Manager in XBMC and I do not need any login credentials. (However I added some to ServerWMC to test anyway).

I can see the channels in the LiveTV section of XBMC, however when I attempt to play one, I get a short spinning wheel and then nothing. No Audio, No Video.

My XBMC log displays this error:
ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening [pvr://channels/tv/All TV channels/38.pvr]

Any ideas?

**EDIT** I've now gotten it so that it will play over the air HD Channels, however all other channels it will not play. I suppose that's some sort of progress...

Does the traditional WMC client play live TV OK?

Are the non-OTA channels drm'd? After a live-tv fail, put the server log in pastebin.com and post a link to it here.

Windows Media Center will play all Live TV without any issues. NonHD and HD content.

The NonOTA channels are just basic cable and should not be DRM'd.

Here's the link to the pastebin.

If I go to the LiveTV tab of ServerWMC, It lists both tuners.

ClearQAM - 25 channels
Cable - 72 channels

Can you turn off 'pre-start tuners' in the live-tv tab and see if it makes a difference?

Sorry, by fault: To really do the test you have turn off pre-start and then restart the server (actually you might even have to reboot the machine to be sure). After the reboot tune first to the cable channel and see if it works.

The OTA tuner and the cable tuner are actually the same piece of hardware, right? And think they are not independent of each other, in order words you can't simultaneously record on both OTA and cable on the same card, is that right? I think the problem is they can't run at the same time and my software is not releasing one before it starts the other so you get a COM error about the device not available.

Well, after changing the setting, I did restart the software. I just rebooted the whole system. That seems to have done the trick.

So turning off Pre-Start Tuners and then rebooting the entire system has resolved it.

Thank you VERY much. FINALLY, LiveTV on my XBMC.

No, I don't think its working. Once you choose the cable tuner then later try to choose the OTA tuner, the OTA tuner will fail. My code has a bug with your exclusive tuner setup, it doesn't fully release the one tuner so when you try to start the other it will fail. Rebooting releases both (actually running wmc might too).

Well, I don't watch the HD channels all that much so it was less of a concern to me. But at least it was a bug that could be fixed for people, since it was a popular tuner.

I will admit, the changing of channels and whatnot is slow.

My system overall is more than capable.

No sure about the 'whatnot', but our uses who care about channel switch speed use the margro build of xbmc to improve it..

I have the same symptoms but turning off Pre-Start Tuners and then rebooting the entire system did not help. I have a Ceton InfiniTV 4 channel tuner with cablecard. All channels work without problems in WMC. HD OTA channels work but other channels (such as TNT HD - 925 ) go into buffering and never actually display content.

System:

Intel i7-3770k
16GB DDR3
120GB SSD

Hi. I looked at the '925' run and it looked like it is working according in the log, so I'm confused as to why it didn't start. Can you go to the debug tab and turn off 'delete temporary files", then start channel 925, after it fails go to tempxbmc and try to play the wtv and ts file that you see there for channel 925.

I did as you suggested. Tuning to channel 925 in xbmc resulted in initial buffering messages and then a black screen. After stopping xbmc and ServerWMC, the wtv file played perfectly, showing the correct program segment. The ts file played, but gave me a black screen.
