My thoughts on OUYA + XBMC
That makes sense, since both 3:10 Yuma and planet Earth are both VC-1 encodes and the Ouya doesn't have hardware acceleration for VC-1. If it plays them at all it would be in software decode. At least most blurays are in h.264.

It's even happening with my h.264 rips. I may try the latest Gotham nightly to see if it helps.

Yes, 'Planet Earth' is VC-1, but the various bitrate clips found on the web are actually h.264. Anyway, I just downloaded the Jellyfish clips (from 50 to 100 Mbps), which I'll test, along with some high bitrate 2D h.264 Blu-rays I have ('Avatar' extended, 'A Fistful of Dollars' and 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade').

I'm having issues similar to AndroiDad. I'm trying to play rips from blu rays (Used MakeMKV) and every couple seconds screen flashes rainbow colors. Debug: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=143597

I'm thinking of taking the plunge on the OUYA for my spare bedroom - just going to connect it to my tv - so no dts etc - the only thing that worries me is the size on the storage (8 gb) - I have quite a large collection of movies - will my userdata folder eat up ALL the space available - or can I use a path substitution to an external usb drive - any thoughts
Check out my Fanart.tv stuff!
...........I also accept disc requests if image not on fanart.tv database !!!!

I've recently bought and have been enjoying my OUYA thus far and installed the latest Gotham Beta release tonight. Unfortunately, when playing a h.264 720p movie (Star Wars Despecialized eidtion for what its worth) over my NAS, I am getting stuck buffering every couple minutes. Does anybody know a good solution? I tried adding an advancedsettings.xml with the following settings but it's not solving the dilemma:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
<network>
<alwaysforcebuffer>1</alwaysforcebuffer>
<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<cachemembuffersize>104857600</cachemembuffersize>
</network>
</advancedsettings>

What is the bitrate of the movie?

What is the bitrate of your network connection?

Does it play OK if stored locally to the OUYA?

All good questions that, to be honest, I'm not sure of how to find the answers to. I'm still new to the Android interface for XBMC (had been running XBMC Live and XBMCbuntu for the past five years) so don't know how to find those things and the movie looks like it would be too big to store on the OUYA (the file is 17GB) so don't think I can check that.

You can try to play it off a usb drive. To rule out network playback specific problems. I have never seen a 720P movie with that big a file size.

Depends how long the movie is and what the bitrate is.

You could get the white-edition or the black-edition of Ouya which are a little more expensive but does have 16GB if internal storage

Not sure if you can put XBMC userdata with Ouya's own USB Mass storage support specifically, but you can but Ouya games on USB storage if its rooted

Hi Guys
I want to get a soundbar for my tv and ouya.
Just wondering if there is anything I should be aware of in terms of compatibility with xbmc running on the Ouya.
The soundbar connects using HDMI so do I connect it up to the tv or to the ouya.. Actually when I come to think of it, the Ouya only has 1 hdmi connection so I guess I must connect the soundbar to the tv?
