Solved Simple remote functions won't work
#1
Hey Guys,

I've installed XBMC a few months back on win7, and have been trying out remote controls.

My problem is that on almost every remote i can't seem to get the normal functions to work, like arrows volume up and down and so on. (mute works?!)
Pause and stop works.

Only remote app where these functions actually works is XBMC touch ipad remote. Yatse no luck official client no luck. Tried these on both my android phone and tablet.

I know it's not a connection issue as I can control some functions, I can sync the remote with XBMC and get the library and I can trigger the files directly from within the library.

Summary:

IPad:

XBMC Touch: arrows work (and everything else however i don't like this remote for other issues)
XBMC official: arrows work
Constellation: arrows do not work

Android:

Yatse: arrows do not work
XBMC official: Sync works (but can't trigger files) arrows don't work

I prefer Yatse over all of the others, but unfortunately that's is one where buttons don't work Undecided

Well, that is the port I'm running in Yatse on my tablet, where it's not working.

But how come it's working on some remote controls and not on others? Do you know what I have to change to get it to work?

Well yes just follow Yatse Wiki Smile

You should not have set Xbmc to port 9777 Smile

You set http to for example 8080 and let 9777 to internals of event server Smile

Well I have, http is set to port 80 because that seems to be default in XBMC so that I changed in yatse, I have never touched the UDP port and it is still 9777... :-)

So I don't really follow what I should change?

Well I admit that I did not, only read the Yatse setup page.

To my defence I would like to add that I am a Boxee man and not in my wildest dreams i would have imagined that so many setting (and an extra program for winblows) was needed to get a simple remote to work.
In boxee it's just plug n' play, witch I have learned that very few things are in XBMC... :-(

Many thx for your help, next time post the link to the wiki as your first reply :-D

Well this link is shown when you configure Yatse Wink

The extra program is not needed at all (If you talk about Xbmc Starter) it's just a plugin for those who need.
Same for Apple Bonjour Wink

Ye, but who have time for manuals Big Grin

Yeah I figured Bonjour wasn't needed so I didn't install it
